More work behind the scenes at Merthyr Saints Football Club, with the club making strides forward. We are happy to announce a new modern and well designed badge.
It was a big call when taking the plunge to modernise and change the badge again, but a decision that will only help the club moving forward in the future years. 2020 is the 20th year that Merthyr Saints have formed, since their rebrand from Hoover Sports FC.
The main reason behind the change of badge was to get rid of the large area of yellow, as the club has moved towards primary colours of green and white. Along with this, we are working closely with Jamie Fitzgerald - who is currently a Saints player. Jamie specialises in branding and marketing and currently works for Cardiff Metropolitan University.
After discussions with Jamie, we decided to move forward with changing the badge into a more modern design. The new badge has many different colours that can change dependent on background of the garment. Even though there has been changes, we feel the badge still remains historical but with a modern identity.
The dragon with the 5 keys, represent the 5 Merthyr Saints which is a key meaning to our football club. Also, the Latin phrase 'Fortius Quo Fidelius' meaning 'Strength Through Loyalty' continues to be the front of what we are about as a club.
We hope all Players, Coaches, Fans and Volunteers welcome the new badge moving forward into the Future.
