We are delighted to announce the signatures of Sam Gamble and Connor Keating, from rivals Penydarren BGC. Sam and Connor are the 6th and 7th signings for Manager Rhys Llewellyn this summer, adding more depth and certainly quality to the Saints.
Sam Gamble was a star player during Penydarren Successful seasons in the last few years, being apart of the unbelievable JD Welsh Cup run that seen Penydarren bow out to Welsh Prem giants Bangor City. Along with the JD Welsh Cup run, Sam was a key figure during the back to back promotions from the South Wales Alliance Premiership and the Welsh League third Division.
As a left back, Sam offers quality in possession going forward and is more than competent in a 1v1 battle. Being agile in transition, he is a quality addition into the defence for the coming season. Being involved in a tough league this season, Sam has experience on what it takes to perform at this level and how knows important it is to be solid at the back.
Another addition to the Saints this summer, is Connor Keating. As well as Sam, Connor was involved in the successful times at Penydarren BGC. We are excited to say we have Connor at the Saints, who is no stranger of being involved in goals at this level.
Connor often described as 'A fox in the box' will no doubt have a say in front of goal next season. During the promotion season for Penydarren BGC, Keating impressed and was named in the Regions Cup squad who represented Wales at Bulgaria.
We Spoke with Manager Rhys Llewellyn about his new high profile signings below.
"I am over the moon to have Sam and Connor in green next season, two quality players who will bring a lot to the club. Over the previous seasons they have impressed for Penydarren because of the quality they bring to the pitch, so having them both at the club is huge for us. Sam brings more quality to our defence which is a massive aspect on doing well in this league, Connor brings an eye for goal and knowing where to be at the right time.
I have said it before, but this shows when you do things in the right way at a club players want to be apart of it. This is what has happened here, both players have seen whats going on and they both are ready to go down a different avenue in their football career - Im just delighted that its with myself and the Saints."
